Where are you located?
We have teams based in both the DMV area and Richmond, Virginia, and provide on-location services throughout each region and the surrounding areas.
In addition to on-location services, in-studio appointments are available in Alexandria, Virginia for select services. All other services are on site!
Travel for destination weddings and extended locations is available upon request.
What is your booking process?
To reserve your date and time, a 20% non-refundable retainer is required for all services.
For wedding services, a signed contract and retainer are required to officially secure your wedding date. The remaining balance is due seven days prior to the wedding.
For non-wedding services (including lessons, events, and in-studio appointments), a 20% non-refundable retainer is required to confirm your booking. These services do not require a contract, and remaining balances are due at the completion of service, as outlined in your booking details.
All booking and payment terms are shared in advance to ensure clarity and a smooth experience.
Are additional artists available if my party is large?
Yes. Bookings with more than five services include two artists. Additional artists beyond that may be added for $150 per artist.
Larger bridal parties or tighter timelines may require additional artist support. Artist placement is determined during timeline planning to ensure a relaxed and efficient morning.
What is your cancellation policy?
Wedding cancellations must be made at least 60 days prior to the reserved date to avoid responsibility for the full contracted amount. The 20% retainer is non-refundable, but are transferable one time. If services cannot be performed due to safety concerns or circumstances beyond the artist’s control (acts of God, venue restrictions, flood, fire, safety, etc.), Maison Atelier reserves the right to discontinue services. Refunds for services not rendered will be issued at the artist’s discretion.
Non-wedding appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. The 20% retainer is non-refundable but is transferable once. Cancellations within 24 hours may result in forfeiture of the retainer. If circumstances beyond the artist’s control prevent services from being completed (power outage, safety concerns, acts of God, etc.), Maison Atelier reserves the right to discontinue services. Refunds for unfinished services are at the artist’s discretion.
Artists are available for reschedule if calendar permits.
Do you offer trials?
Yes. We refer to trials as Bridal Preview or Design Appointments. They are highly recommended and are typically scheduled 4–6 weeks prior to the wedding, when your skin, hair, and overall look are closest to how they will be on the wedding day.
Preview appointments may be booked with or without contracted wedding-day services. Please note that booking a trial alone does not reserve your wedding date. Your wedding date is officially secured only once a signed contract and retainer for wedding-day services are received.
If you want to book a preview without contracting wedding day services, it is recommended to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
Preview appointments are a collaborative experience designed to refine your vision and ensure you feel confident, supported, and fully prepared.
Are there late fees?
For non-bridal services, appointments are subject to cancellation if the client arrives more than 15 minutes late, unless prior arrangements have been made.
For wedding services, a late fee of $30 per 30 minutes may be applied if a client arrives late for their scheduled service time or if hair and/or makeup exceeds the allotted time due to client delays.
Due to the structured nature of wedding-day schedules, continuation of services beyond the agreed end time is subject to artist availability and discretion.
Do you work with all skin tones and hair textures?
Absolutely. Inclusivity, customization, and thoughtful artistry are core to our work. Every client receives a tailored approach based on their unique features, preferences, and comfort level.
We have a wide array of foundation shades and powders to match all skin tones. You can also view the photos in our portfolio to view the clientele serviced that has a similar tone to yours.
Can I book earlier than 8am?
Early start appointments beginning before 7:00 AM are available for an additional fee.
For non-wedding services, an early start fee of $50 applies when services or travel begin prior to 7:00 AM.
For wedding services, early start fees apply when the getting-ready timeline begins before 7:00 AM. The fee is applied to each of the artists required and may be added later once your final timeline is confirmed.
Can I book for myself and add my bridal party later?
Yes, you’re welcome to secure your date by booking services for yourself and add additional services at a later time.
That said, it’s always encouraged to confirm your full headcount as early as possible. Your appointment timing and artist allocation are planned based on the number of services booked at the time of confirmation.
For example, if services are initially booked for one person, the timeline is reserved accordingly. If additional services are added later, availability may be limited if other bookings have been confirmed after your time.
Artist support is also scheduled based on party size. If your booking initially requires one artist, additional artists may be scheduled elsewhere and may not be available should your party grow.
Confirming your full service count early helps ensure adequate time, staffing, and a relaxed experience for everyone involved.
Are prices negotiable?
Pricing reflects the level of experience, preparation, and care provided for each client. All rates are thoughtfully set and non-negotiable.
What if my timeline changes?
Timelines are reviewed and finalized in advance. If changes arise, adjustments may be possible depending on availability and scope.
