The longer I’ve worked in this industry, the more I’ve realized artistry doesn’t just sit on the surface. It seeps inward very quickly. My experience as an artist really plays into the way I move through the world. And at some point, you can’t tell where the artistry ends and where you begin, because they start to  become one.

I remember walking into one of my first large-scale productions. The lights were bright, the schedule was tight, and every other artist in the room seemed to move like they’d been here a hundred times. I wasn’t nervous about my skill. I was nervous about proving it because I already knew I’d have to.

When two people sit in my chair for the same wedding, I never see them as a set that needs to be “matched.” I see two individuals, each with their own style, comfort zones, and ways they want to be seen. My job is to honor those differences while still creating a visual thread that ties them together in their photos, their ceremony, and the memory of the day.

For everything this job takes… the early mornings, the heavy kits, the mental checklists, the quiet exhaustion, it gives even more.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a voice. It’s a commitment to doing things with integrity, even when it costs me. It’s knowing that I don’t have to shrink myself to survive here. I’m not interested in just making it. I’m interested in changing it.

Growing up in the 90s, I saw glimmers of myself in the beauty world. There were ads, covers, and campaigns that celebrated dark skin, that held space for brown girls with texture, depth, and richness. That kind of visibility planted a seed. I thought, maybe this is for me too.

I’ve had to remind myself: there’s a difference between sharing your work and “selling your soul to the scroll”. And I’ve felt that pull..the urge to perform, the guilt when I don’t post, the fear that if I’m not visible, I’ll be forgotten. But I’ve also come to realize: my artistry isn’t less valuable just because I didn’t film it.

You thought it was just about makeup — but behind every brushstroke was a conversation, a connection, a moment where you felt seen. That’s the part I’ll never forget.

When I do soft glam, I’m not just applying products. I’m reading skin, adjusting undertones, watching how the light hits your face and how your eyes respond to certain shades. I’m choosing the right textures and finishes that work for your unique canvas. Every placement is intentional.
